Community Investment
Our commitment and support to local communities is unprecedented and central to everything we do.
We donate 25% of our profit to local community based organisations.
Collectively our membership represents a tremendous community based resource, so we are committed to:
- Assisting and encouraging our membership to engage with local community groups
- Acting as an intermediary between local community organisations and our membership
Our systems also guide and encourage you to select local builders and tradespeople, so you can play a part in supporting your local economy.
For the London Borough of Sutton, we have carefully selected the following three organisations with strong links to the local economy, community and environment as beneficiaries:
Economy
Sutton Education Business Partnership (SEBP) works within the education department to provide programmes and activities for young people aged 11-19 in Sutton schools and colleges to learn about work through work.
SEBP's projects are delivered with the support of the business community so that young people can develop the skills which are needed in their future working life.
Community
The Sutton Community Fund aims to support and develop healthy and sustainable communities in Sutton by funding small voluntary and community groups working locally. It especially supports groups working with health, social care, leisure, the environment and the arts and aims to reduce disadvantage and exclusion. Groups can apply for grants of up to £2000 in any two years and decisions are made by a panel of local people. It has more applications than it can meet and is always seeking to increase the amount of money available. More information can be obtained from Sutton CVS who administer the scheme on 020 8644 2867 or enquiries@suttoncvs.org.uk
Environment
Ecolocal develops and delivers a broad range of environmental sustainability services designed to help people move toward more pro-environmental behaviours. Ecolocal's services cover:
- local food, health, transport, energy and waste minimisation
- community engagement, consultation and research
- training and facilitation and event management
